In case you missed it, Scott Adams who is the creator of Dilbert was dumped by pretty much every single outlet that carried his syndicated comic. His crime was commenting on a new Rasmussen Poll that asked only black people the question, “Is it okay to be white?” 53% said yes, 26% said no, and the rest were unsure. His comment was that he had tried and tried for his entire adult life to blend in with black people but this poll, he claimed, showed that the situation is irredeemable. Black people, he opined, have been so indoctrinated into white hatred that the problem is unfixable. Therefore whites should self-segregate themselves from blacks and just in essence ignore them.
I paraphrased his comments a bit, but if you haven’t seen it, here it is: https://twitter.com/scottadamssays/with_replies.
Included are the replies to the offending tweet as well so that you have some context. As I watched it my reactions were first, holy shit, he’s committed career suicide followed by some thoughts about the comment. They are:
While his tweet was sure to cause a conflagration, in context I understood it. Understanding is not agreeing, just to be clear.
This same Rasmussen poll would never be run asking whites as nobody would participate. Can you even imagine a pollster asking a white person, do you think it’s okay to be black? I am pretty sure that if they did, nobody would answer honestly. Not that all whites are racist or even close. It’s just that unless you live in a cave, you know any criticism of black people is radioactive.
If the question was asked of whites, the results would be nearly 100%, yes, of course. White people, as any white reader of this blog knows, literally never ask themselves questions like this. Okay to be? What? Dumb question and inflammatory. If this were a police sting, the defendant would get off by entrapment.
I can understand Adams’ comments about living apart from the black community. He was not suggesting a return to Jim Crow. He was channeling Abraham Lincoln. The Great Emancipator until the moment that bullet went through his brain fully intended to return the blacks to Africa, Liberia in particular. In fact, there was a strong movement among freed slaves to do just that and Lincoln met with them on several occasions to plan. At the root of these discussions was the idea back then that black and white people could never coexist.
Today I live in an apartment complex and many of my neighbors are black. It’s very unscientific but in my experience black people really do divide on the question of being okay to be white. I can tell in the way they respond when I unfailingly say hello and ask how they’re doing? Most will reply like any normal human being with “Hi! Good. And you?” but a large minority will not respond to my greetings and it is always the same people. It is easy to see in their eyes and expression that they see me as something less than worth talking to. Instant hostility. You would think that I said stick em up. Some of them have been living here as long as I have, over 3 years, and not once have they responded other than to stare.
Meanwhile my Mexican neighbors ALWAYS return the wishes and ask how I am, sometimes in English and others in Spanish. The latter is because when I know them well enough to be sure they too are bilingual, I speak to them in Spanish. It opens up the conversation and I have made new friends this way. In our courtyard in front of my unit are a couple of charcoal grills. Often my Mexican neighbors have weekend parties and everyone that shows up is given a plate and yummy food. It is a cultural thing that I have experienced many times both here and in Mexico proper, outdoor gatherings and sharing with family and friends including new ones made of strangers. It is one of my favorite things about Mexican culture. I have never had anything but a wonderful time at a Carne Asada.
Black people here seem to like to grill out a lot too, and not once in 3 years have I ever been invited to grab a plate. Before you instantly ask me if I grill and invite everyone, the answer is yes. I have adopted a lot of Mexican culture as my own. I shop at a local Mexican supermarket for the meat and trimmings fully prepared to share. It gives me pleasure and besides, I am a people person. I just love doing this. I ask all of my neighbors if they would like some, and most join right in but not my black neighbors. I would be only guessing as to why but my guess would probably be correct. Sheer hostility toward white people.
All of that is colloquial, I know. I only mention it because if you are like me, you may have experienced the same thing in different forms. Though lots of black people, millions of them, are fine with white friends, it is not difficult to pretty much get a dose of attitude anytime you might mingle in business or for pleasure. While white racists are secretive about their feelings and literally never share them unless he’s a skinhead or Aryan Brother. Black racists never hesitate to smear white people because not only does society tolerate it, it celebrates the attitude as a part of the truly stupid 1619 Project/White Privilege baloney that opines American was founded by whites to maintain slavery of blacks. Total bullshit and based upon nothing and yet so-called serious MSM outlets just let the race-baiting slide.
Back to Scott Adams, what he did was let out his inner frustration at the systemic racism of blacks toward whites. Many white people, I can say without fear of contradiction by objective reality, share his feelings. They don’t think black people are in any way less able, smart, or valuable as human beings. They are just exhausted by kowtowing to black resentment which has morphed into our current national popular culture. Amazing how a racist country like ours can be dominated by black culture. Seriously, black people are 13% of the population but there is rarely a production in the entertainment business as one example that doesn’t shoehorn in a black actor regardless of it making a lick of sense. I think instantly of Vikings Valhalla on Netflix where a major historic Viking king, Jarl Haakon. There were absolutely no black people in Scandinavia then. Not many are there now for that matter.
To be crystal clear, I am glad that people of color get rolls, but the myth of blacks being shut out of show biz is just that, a myth. For example, 12.5% of all Oscars for the past 20 years have gone to black people which lines up proportionally. Yet, the Oscars had to apologize for being racist and now the show is unwatchable as it has morphed into political theater. As a white person I think that I speak for most when I say, good for you, black actors, but could we lay off the politics and just make shows and movies where there is no social commentary? It has gotten to the point, and it is not just blacks but transvestites (I refuse to use transgender as there is no such thing) and graphic homosexuality are regularly injected into scripts that have no reason for this sort of commentary. Further, white males in particular are literally always portrayed as either villains or idiots in virtually all of the Marvel Universe and Star Wars as two more examples. It’s painful and so speaking only for myself, I don’t watch much of anything made after 2015. Do we white people have to be caricatured and made fun of in almost every production?
In prison, I was exposed to the bottom of black culture and as a result a high percentage of white-haters. Segregation is real in prison and an inmate can take a beating for allowing, as just one example, a person of another race coming into their “house” and sitting on their bed. This is true of all racial combinations in prison with the possible exception of the Chiefs (American Indians) who generally keep to themselves. I never had the opportunity to share any meaningful conversations with any of them as they just don’t mix at all. I think its cultural as opposed to racism but that’s just an opinion. To those indians that I know personally, they think white men just talk too goddamn much and cannot leave a silence alone. They have a point.
The thing is, prison populations run themselves day to day. If a riot broke out, as it does from time to time, there are just not enough guards to contain it. Therefore to prevent such things, the staff lets the yard-bosses of each race make the rules. In turn, each of the bosses meets regularly with his counterparts in other races to iron out any situations that arise. The most common is an inmate of one race owing money to an inmate of another, usually for drugs. Then what generally the solution was for the boss of the offending inmate’s race to order his own torpedoes (enforcers) to take the guy into a restroom as there are no cameras in there. Then depending upon the severity of the offense, he will get the living shit beaten out of him without racial mixing. Riot prevented.
It kind of reminded me of the movie, “Fail Safe”. This is an oldie in black and white about an American nuclear bomber getting screwed up instructions from a machine and dropping a nuke on Moscow. If you want to watch it, don’ t read the rest of this paragraph, but for those that have, you know that the solution to preventing a full-on nuclear war was for the president to have one of our own bombers nuke New York City. Kind of the same thing if you think about it, prove your veracity and desire for peace by punishing your own people.
Of the black inmates, Kinfolk as they are called inside (whites are Woods, latinos are either Chicanos or Paisas (not citizens), and indians Chiefs as I already shared), most ooze resentment of pretty much everything and when discussed will inevitably blame white people for their problems. Yet, interestingly, I had many conversations with various black bosses and other inmates over the years. I was just as blunt as I am in this blog and never pulled a punch. The Kinfolk at the very least respected me as on both yards, I was protected from the ABs and Skinheads by them. I lost count of the times I was called kike or threatened by some stupid AB. For many black kids inside, I became their yard dad as a result of sharing these deep conversations. So I was protected. Thank God.
My major point in my talks was for blacks to take a lesson from the Jews. After all, it is objective fact that the Jews are the most persecuted people in the history of civilization. No other group has absorbed so much horror and punishment and still exists. As we Jews say among ourselves, they come and they go but we’re still here. We always outlast our persecutors. Some see it as confirmation of the Jews as the Chosen People because every nation that has ever persecuted Jews has disintegrated upon the ash heap of history.
As another of my digressions, I have to share that most of these kids (a term a use of anyone under 40) were ignorant and uneducated, but if they had been born to a different family, a traditional nuclear family where they would have had both parents and support, many had the smarts to be professionals like doctors, lawyers, and engineers. Therefore when I shared what I had to say, they got it. Never once did any of them get hostile though we had LOTS of spirited debates.
Here is what I generally shared in a nutshell: Find a way and fuck ‘em. This means stop playing the victim. Every single black citizen of this country regardless of economic status is one of the luckiest black persons on the planet. Every other “black” country is a shithole by American standards. Wakonda is a fantasy. Blacks in Africa in particular were and are still very tribal. They have been slaughtering each other for hundreds if not thousands of years without respite. All that time and because of tribalism, African technology never advanced, living conditions never improved, infrastructure to make life livable and safe did not exist UNTIL the white European empires came in and built paved roads, hospitals, schools, granted rights to women, and introduced law. That’s the legacy of imperialism if you don’t have your head up your ass and repeat propaganda. Yes, shitty things happened but on balance, if the empires had not come to Africa, it would still be as it always was.
I would share all of this and the real history of America, where slavery was and wasn’t, what it did and didn’t do, and most of all tried to change their victim mentality to productive. I have no idea about long term success of this effort but at the time they LOVED find a way and fuck em. I shared that racism is a thought, not an action. I taught that discrimination has been illegal in the United States since 1964. I asked them to provide concrete examples of when they were held back by their race and I never got anything but vague perceptions. The propaganda of the race-hustlers has really done a number on black America.
So, Scott Adams, speaking only for myself, I am not ready to turn my back on my black friends and acquaintances despite black racists. If I did, they win and I won’t surrender on this. I like living in a racially diverse neighborhood. I don’t care about the hostility of some black people because as bad as it is, it is not the majority. I believe that if spoken to by leaders that teach and explain as opposed to patronize and manipulate, this black racism could be defeated as has white. I am just waiting for some politician to have the nuts to openly discuss the objective reality of this tribalism and racism.
Just saying.
Yes I think I said, it was the Rasmussen poll. Secondly, I don't excuse Dilbert I just understand. There's a big difference between excusing and understanding. I understand how we feels That's what I was talking about. I think most people would agree with that feeling, that is white people and I hate that we even talk about what color we are. I'm not going to say I'm color blind because that's idiotic, but truly, if everyone would just shut up about racism the entire topic would just go away. This is the fault of the mainstream and race hustlers and we need to speak up without fear. When I say we I mean people with the brain, not white people. One of my partners is black and he agrees with me 100%. Now he is just one guy, of course, but the feeling of white privilege is far from monolithic and this idiocy that's pushed by race peddlers just has to come to an end because it's tribalizing our country.
Just for the record as I reread this, I understand that role is how I should have spelled the word as opposed to roll. And then my comment about Jarl Haakon I omitted the most important point which was he was played by a black woman. No, I'm not senile, but sometimes when you look at your own mistake no matter how many times you seem to look at it you never see it until later when you are completely embarrassed! Rock on!
